How long have you been in business?
Kathryn Rose started the business in 1990.
What is your primary product or service?
Massage therapy and other forms of bodywork techniques: Swedish/Relaxation Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Prenatal Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Facial Massage, Lymphatic Massage, Reiki, Ortho-Bionomy(R), and more
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
"I've always been interested in health care and had worked in that field. With massage therapy I can focus more on helping people to become more aware of their body's signals. It's about becoming more "in touch" with their whole being: body, mind, and spirit. I enjoy assisting clients in becoming more comfortable, at ease and more relaxed. I work with all ages. I have a special interest in helping the geriatic population in their homes, as well as nursing homes and assisted living facilities." Kathryn Rose
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Massage Connection is one of the oldest massage therapy practices in the Fox Valley and the first group practice in Appleton. Kathryn Rose was instrumental in changing several of the old massage ordinances in the city and was also a pioneer in educating the public about the benefits of massage therapy when it was not well known in the Fox Cities. Kathryn moved her business downtown in 1999 because she has always loved the downtown and wanted to do her part by filling one of the empty storefronts. She has a very special interest in keeping our downtown vital. Kathryn has been a business member of Appleton Downtown Inc since moving to the downtown location and is a past ADI Board Member.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
There is only one location. Kathryn ran two for a short time, but found it was too confusing for clients and too stressful for her to manage both and still keep up with her own clientele. At one point, we had a large center with several other health care professionals and wellness related classes. Kathryn decided to go back to the basics so she could relax more herself and focus more on her own clients. Now the group practice has 4 WI Certified Massage Therapists and 4 Massage Practitioners and 1 Certified Healing Touch Practitioner.
